CBD Gummy Recipe

Gummies have become an incredibly popular form of consuming CBD, and it’s no wonder. It’s familiar, convenient, discreet, and they come in cute shapes. You’re never too old to appreciate translucent jelly shaped like butterflies.

There are many advantages to making your own CBD gummies. You can make your choice of sweeteners, ingredients, select the CBD concentration, and use the CBD product of your choosing — coming from a lab you trust.

We are going to provide you with a basic recipe, then we will elaborate on how this recipe can be modified to suit your needs and tastes. From changes in flavor, to changes in materials, and even how you can make this recipe vegan. It’s already gluten-free by default.

The basic ingredients

  1. Orange juice
  2. Honey
  3. Unflavored gelatin
  4. Silicone mold
  5. CBD product of your choice (more on this in a second).

You can play around with the amounts depending on the size of the batch and how sweet you want it to be. We recommend that for every cup of orange juice, you use two tablespoons of honey and three tablespoons of gelatin.

Choosing the CBD for your gummy

There is a wealth of CBD products available in the market, and a lot of them can go into this gummy recipe.

CBD oils and tinctures are two of the most popular ways to consume CBD. They work for this recipe, but they do have a distinct aftertaste.

CBD isolates, on the other hand, are a powdered substance containing the purest CBD you can get. They’re upwards of 99% pure and are odorless and tasteless, which makes them a favorite for cooking CBD into things.

However, they are so pure that they lack some of the other beneficial substances found in full-spectrum CBD, which lessens the health benefits of the whole recipe.

For your first batch, it’s best to go with whatever you have at hand and are used to consuming. Later, we recommend you experiment with other options. You never know what will click with your tastes.

Instructions

  • Step 1: place the silicone mold on a cookie sheet or something similar, then set it aside.
  • Step 2: Combine the juice and the honey inside a saucepan. Put on medium-low heat and start mixing the two.
  • Step 3: Slowly start adding gelatin into the mixture. Continue stirring to prevent clumping. Continue until the gelatin is melted. The mixture should have a smooth consistency by the end.
  • Step 4: Slowly add the CBD product to the mixture. Dose it at your discretion.
  • Step 5: The hard part is done! Now the mixture goes into the mold, and the mold goes into the fridge. Let it cool for 3 to 4 hours, then take the gummies out of their molds and you’re done. Enjoy your treats.

Alterations

There are many ways this recipe can be altered to fit your needs.

  • You don’t need silicon molds. Ice cube trays can work for this recipe as well. You can also pour the mixture onto a lightly greased baking sheet, then cut your gummies out of the sheet once the mixture hardens.
  • This recipe can be made vegan by replacing or eliminating the honey, and by switching gelatin for an animal-friendly alternative, such as agar powder.
  • You can change the flavor by switching the juice or using water and flavoring. The latter is a good solution if you are using CBD tincture and really want to overshadow the tincture’s earthy taste.
  • Finally, if you aren’t worried about THC, you can use decarboxylated cannabis ground to a fine dust in this recipe. Make your own weed gummies.

There, that’s something for everybody. Now you have no excuse to skip giving this recipe a try. As sites like CannaConnection show, there is always a lot to learn about Cannabis.
