Cannabis Infused Kombucha Recipe
Kombucha, a fermented tea drink, has been gaining popularity in recent years due to its health benefits and unique flavor profile. But have you ever thought about adding cannabis to your kombucha? Cannabis-infused kombucha is a great way to combine the benefits of both cannabis and probiotics, and it’s easy to make at home.
Ingredients:
- 1 SCOBY (symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast)
- 1 cup of starter tea (previously brewed kombucha)
- 3 tea bags or 3 tablespoons loose leaf tea
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1 gallon of water
- 1/2 cup cannabis tincture (or decarboxylated cannabis flower)
Instructions:
- Boil 1 gallon of water and remove from heat.
- Add tea bags or loose leaf tea to the water and let steep for 15 minutes.
- Remove the tea bags or strain out the loose leaf tea.
- Add 1 cup of sugar to the tea mixture and stir until dissolved.
- Let the tea mixture cool down to room temperature.
- Add the SCOBY and 1 cup of starter tea to the tea mixture.
- Cover the jar with a cloth and secure it with a rubber band.
- Let the mixture sit at room temperature for 7-10 days.
- After 7-10 days, taste the kombucha. It should have a slightly tangy, sour taste.
- Once the kombucha is ready, you can add your cannabis tincture or decarboxylated cannabis flower.
- For tincture, add 1/2 cup to the gallon of kombucha and mix well. For decarboxylated flower, grind it finely and add it to the kombucha. Let it sit for a few hours before consuming.
- Store the kombucha in glass bottles in the fridge.
Tips:
- Make sure to sterilize all equipment before making your kombucha.
- Use a glass jar for brewing your kombucha. Plastic can leach harmful chemicals into the kombucha.
- Keep the kombucha away from direct sunlight.
- If you’re using decarboxylated cannabis flower, be sure to strain it out before consuming.
- Start with a small amount of cannabis and adjust to your desired potency.
